I quite like the look of this one. Funny name I know but that’s what it reminded me of.

Not sure if I prefer black and white or red and white. After I’d made the blocks I’m not sure I’d get around to the border, I think I might run out of steam. The border really does make the design though!
Flickering Stars Quilt

Been busy today with housework and working on my Gloria Loughman Luminous Landscape quilt which I started in a workshop last week. We enlarged the design and now I can’t get my trees to play nicely in the design. Wasted some fabric today and looks like I’ll be back at the shop tomorrow for more. Very frustrating!! I’ve downloaded some software this afternoon and had a little help to stretch my trees, so in theory everything should be ok when I get some more fabric. I’m looking forward to finishing something!

Needs a little help in the border department but I’m still working on that aspect of the design. I just can’t find anything I’m happy with. You know what I’m talking about – right?

I think I like this one even more. With a few line changes the block has morphed into something slightly different.
Goomba Blocks Complete

Well I finished my two Goomba blocks yesterday. They’re a bit different from the ones Angela provided in the QAL but I prefer this one.
After dinner I had a play around designing one of these as well, Blooper? I was always being chased in the underwater part of the game by at least one of these things. Took me ages to avoid them lol. I actually found QuiltAssistant pretty good for designing these fairly simple blocks and you can export in EQ6 format which makes it really fabulous. Then you open your EQ6 or EQ7 file and import the block into your current file.
True Lovers Knot Quilt & Variations

Red and white quilts are a favourite of mine. I’ve seen the True Lovers Knot block and wanted to draw it up in Electric Quilt.
Looks good but I wanted to see what it would look like with some applique in the centre.
I like it but thought the border was too heavy. Many times a pieced border makes all the difference to the design of a quilt. So I designed one. Doesn’t the open border really make a difference. I really like it now!
I’m thinking the applique in the middle is just too much now. The pieced border just lifts the design so much.
No time to make one though, I’m trying to finish a couple of Goomba blocks today for the Super Mario Quiltalong.
