Icehouse Quilt

This is something I designed while playing around with blocks and layouts. Do you feel cold?

I thought perhaps the pale blue border may have overwhelmed the design so I’ve created another version with pieced corners. I think I prefer it! What do you think?

Now for something a bit more contemporary. These are the same blocks as yesterday but wow look at the difference now! It’s hard to believe these are the same blocks. This is a layout from the EQ layout library.

In a group I belong to there has been some talk about and appreciation of a 5 inch Pineapple Log Cabin block . Here’s my version. I have included PDF pattern downloads of 5, 6 and 7 inch on my Free Patterns Page¬† if anyone is interested. I don’t think I would every make one, although I do collect lots of little pieces, this is just too much for me.

I’ve been trying to cut additional pieces to make more of these. I’ve decided scrappy is the way to go. I think that’s probably just an excuse to play with the stash.

Dieppe 9 Quilt

I wondered what a flying geese pieced border might look like. Then I thought it looked unfinished and wanted to try something else.

So I tried this but somehow I think the border looks a little wide for the design.

This is actually what I’ve been working on, Travertine Pavering. Big job, sore back and knees and I’m only the assistant. Should be good when it’s finished. It’s so dazzling and light. I’m thinking of making a quilt in this layout too!
