I think this design would look great in a scrappy theme.

I wanted to try a different border treatment and for a while I liked it. Now I don’t. I thought the dogtooth border might echo the design in the blocks but I find it overpowering and it makes the quilt itself look flat and uninteresting. Needs an injection of colour too but the more I played with it the more I disliked it. Definitely needs something – probably deleting!

I’m still playing with stars and circular designs.

Last year I downloaded the free Tisket A Tasket bom from Bunny Hill Designs. While this year it is not free (it is available for purchase) it is still a delightful design and being in the mood for some applique I have started working on some of the blocks. Not great camera work I’m afraid. I’m using one of the cameras belonging to another family member because by camera requires new batteries. Note to self get batteries soon.

Those apples need stalks and a leaf.

That white blob is actually a snowman requiring a head. Both designs have some stitchery involved and some extra leaves across the top.

After my August 2010 Quilt 4 I decided I wanted to see what my design would look like square instead of rectangular. After a little playing around I came up with this as the best of several options.

Not bad at all. Then I set to try different star options and came up with this.

I don’t like it as much – I think the star is too ‘heavy’ for the design and focuses your attention to the outside edges. You still have to try though, you never know it might have ‘made’ the overall design spectacular.

An idea I’ve been working on. Started with some blocks I made but didn’t use in a previous quilt. This set me to thinking about how I might best use them, without having to toss them into the scrap bucket to be buried and never seen again. I’m making a small version for the local hospital and hope to have it finished shortly.

Here’s a version in blue and a version in pink. I understand people today like to see much brighter options for baby quilts. I would put them side by side in my blog but I don’t know how to do that. Probably have to use editing software out of WordPress and then import a finished product.

These blocks are straight from the block library. You don’t even have to draw your own flying geese or points around the outside of your compasses anymore. I won’t be starting one of these babies any time soon though – too many wip’s to complete and I don’t think I would live long enough to finish it. I’m too easily distracted by colours and new designs etc and of course my EQ is never a distraction – lol. Looks good though!
