I actually finished this quilt yesterday just prior to our departure. We did have to leave a little later though!

A photograph taken in the middle of a hot summer day is never brilliant but you get the idea. It looked really good and nephew Luke (the proud father) was so impressed he was lost for words. This quilt is straight but the summer breeze just caught it as I took the picture and I didn’t have time to muck about.

I have a very sore right thumb – is there such a thing as quilter’s thumb? I’ve really been pushing hard to get this quilt finished but I’ve never had a sore thumb before.

Baby Quilts

This week I have handed over 2 small quilts for the local hospital. I have used cotton wadding and washed them so they crinkled up just a little. I bought the remnants at my quilting group’s market day a couple of weeks ago specifically for the purpose. With the works in progress at the moment I just wanted to sew and finish something and I am feeling quite satisfied with the result. I’m not saying rejuvenated just yet!

Today is another block I made last week for a charity quilt. It is very bright and I will probably make another in softer tones. This block is called Top Hat. I combined a couple of patches in the outer triangles to reduce the number of fabrics required.

The inner square and outer triangle sections have been foundation pieced separately and then assembled.

I made this block last week for my local group to put into a charity quilt. It will be a sampler quilt. The blocks really are a mixed bag. The woman putting it together will have her work cut out for her.

This block was made using my Easy Dresden ruler by Darlene Zimmerman. I purchased it some years ago and have never used it. The whole process is  certainly speeded up and the results are quite impressive I think. smdresdentrbgThis is also the first time I tried to make a transparent background. I don’t think I quite have it  yet but definitely improving.
