I belong to a group, the Sydney Southern Cross Quilters, with a new mystery quilt challenge.
I’ve been slowly working away on my block. I decided to go with the 12″ block idea and then when next month’s instructions are issued I can decide whether to proceed with another 8 blocks or turn my block into a medallion quilt.
The first instruction is for an applique block. I’m using some of my fabric scraps saved from the quilt (flimsy stage without borders at the moment) I am currently making for my niece in green and purple batiks. The block I have chosen is from my EQ add on CD, Folk Art Applique. I decided I wanted a fairly simple design with the option to use some of my smaller scraps in the circles. Of course I still had to purchase background fabric.
It took me some time but I finally decided on which scraps to use where, I have yet to stitch the circles down.
