I’ve long admired the Knappenberger Quilt seen here and a better image on Barbara Brackman’s blog here. It is in the collection of the Folk Art Museum of New York City. I have tried unsuccessfully on several occasions to draft the feathered star. I still can’t but one day I’m sure I will. It is a tricky block made on an irregular grid by the look of it.
My frustration at not being able to draft out the star has not dampened my enthusiasm. I love the challenge of drawing in EQ, I really, really do. So if you’re interested in drawing up old quilts, don’t give up, keep at it and one day your skill level will enable you to draw up almost anything you want. As I said my feathered star is not the same but I’m still very pleased with the results.
and here’s one just for a laugh!
