I’ve come across this block and thought I might sew one up and see how it looks for inclusion in my (Advanced Sampler) Camborne Quilt. Could be a bit fussy, I’ll just have to stitch one up and see won’t I?

Here’s an EQ version of my proposed quilt. I’ve been working on the piecing and applique for the central block but my fingertips are a bit sore at the moment. I’m still not 100% sure about the two potted star flower blocks, one a variation of the other. What do you think, too much? I’m also worried about the Mississippi wheel of fortune block without a yellow background around the points mmmm, decisions, decisions.

I’m finding it hard to find my rhythm after the Christmas break. Hard to focus, hard to get motivated to do anything really.

This is the sixth block I’ve completed and I’m not sure where to go next with this quilt. I’d like 2 more blocks set on point for the corners but I can’t seem to find any I like. I’m not sure about one of the blocks I’ve made either, I think it might be too soft. Ho hum and fiddle dee dee.

Anyway here is my Mississippi Wheel of Fortune block. This was a difficult block to construct because of the small size of the pieces and I’m thinking may be too difficult for students in a class as well. I’ll just have to keep moving forward or it will end up another ufo and I certainly don’t want that.

I started playing around with this quilt for the October EQ Challenge. Unfortunately I ran out of time and should I say enthusiasm. I tried and tried but I couldn’t get the design and colours to work together. Today I re-visited it again and finally came up with this design. When I say again, I do mean again, I have looked at it several times but couldn’t get it to play nicely for me. It is quite a busy design but I like it. There is a lot of the red/brown fabric in there though! I really found this range of fabrics hard to work with as a lot of the designs were either very busy or on a large scale.

Here’s block 4 actually finished and a finish for block 5 as well. I had some problems with block 5. I usually like to leave the pressing of complicated blocks until I finish them but with this one I  should have pressed segments as I went along, so many bias edges caused stretching when I tried to press at the end. I probably should have stay stitched the bias edges as well before I pressed. I will have to make another just to check my templates and measurements.

Anyway they are looking good and I am pleased with the result. I can’t decide on a layout at the moment. So many ideas keeps me awake at night.
